An essay is based upon your opinions and research. If it covers the main areas of agreement/disagreement and is well-written, then it can be considered a good essay.

1. The first part of an essay is your thesis – very briefly, point out what you believe. Should school uniforms be required or not? What are the major points (about your belief)?

2. Starting with the first point, elaborate on it, state what your first belief is and then support it with opinions, facts, and research.

3. Do the same with the second point.

4. Do the same with the third point (if you have three points). You can also point out a different view and then say why you do not accept that view.

5. Write the conclusion. Summarize your beliefs, facts, opinion, and make a final statement why all these things cause you to believe what you do.
