Article Writing Tips : 6 Key Ingredients Of A Successful Article That Also Enhance Clickthrough Rate
No doubt, article writing and submission, if properly carried out, is one of the most effective forms of advertisement in internet marketing.
Even only a few well written and properly submitted articles can generate massive and viral website traffic on its own accord, not to talk of the backlinks that also arise, thereby resulting in improved pagerank and higher search engine ranking for the webmaster’s targeted keyword phrases and hence another round of massive traffic to the webmaster’s website therefrom.
The following 6 ingredients are critical to article writing and will also result in higher clickthrough rate and hence the success of any article marketing campaign once the other leg of article submission is effectively taken care of.
1) Articles must be written with human readers in mind
The webmaster must from the outset recognise that he is writing articles for human consumption and so the articles must be informative, enlightening, educative and written in a lively manner as to keep the reader engrossed right through to the end of the article.
No doubt, the title is priority #1 as only a catchy and useful(educative, informative) title stands the chance of enticing readers to take a look at the main body of the article.
Since the reader will look at the article as a teaser of what he is likely to be confronted with at the webmaster’s website, only an article body that captures his attention will likely lure him to clickthrough to the webmaster’s website.
A turn off to the reader, within the article body will prevent him from going further to the end and getting to the resource box where the necessary clickthrough action takes place.
The internet is an information super highway comprising varied information on varied subjects and any uninformative and substandard article will “naturally” be sieved and discarded.
It also stands to reason that an undue premium on keyword stuffing is likely to be a turn-off to human readers as it may end up not making the article “flow” as it ordinarily should.
2) Articles must be relevant to the niche of the webmaster
It should be noted that one key objective of article writing and submission is traffic and ultimately sales. To see why the article reader should clickthrough to the webmaster’s website for further information, both the article and the webmaster’s website content should fall within the same niche to which the article reader is targeted.
Otherwise, the few who manage to clickthrough to the website will result in an untargeted stream of visitors which would do the webmaster no good.
There is no point exerting so much effort in providing very useful and well crafted information which would not end up in sales and hence profit.
3) Formatting of the article
A long unwinding article without paragraphs, bulleting etc would turn out a bore and turn off to the article audience and so a key objective of getting website visitors and hence sales and profit will be defeated as readers who can hardly go through the article will certainly not follow through the resource box link to the webmaster’s website
4) Lenght of the article
This appears trivial but is quite important. An article that is too short (less than about 400 words) creates an impression of unseriousness or lack of information while one that is too long (more than about 1000 words) can become boring and a turn off to its audience who quickly click away before getting to the resource box.
In conformity with these realities, a “natural” sieving would have occured if not for the fact that the article directories taking cognisance of these same realities, would already have performed the sieving process.
5) Article writing, taking the search engines into consideration (Search Engine Optimisation)
Article writing in the first place is not an end in itself but a means to an end, the end being traffic/sales and ultimately profit.
Google accounts for about 80% of search engine traffic which itself accounts for about 60% of total traffic to websites on the internet.
It is paramount that the webmaster “court the beautiful bride” – google, so that his articles can be properly positioned within the first two pages of the search content for his targeted keyword phrases, in anticipation of his audience clicking through same, to his website.
To achieve this, he must have done a thorough keyword research to identify and subsequently sprinkle his targeted keyword phrases at strategic positions in his article. Such positions include the first three words of the article, the first few words of the first paragraph, optimally within the main body of the article, within the last paragraph and as an anchor text linking to his website, in the resource box.
The above if properly done will result in a targeted readership which combined with the webmaster’s website content being in the related niche will naturally flow the targeted readers through, clicking the resource box link, to his website.
6) Well crafted resource box
To complete the task of writing a successful article and enhancing the article’s clickthrough rate, the article resource box should contain a call to action statement and a lure of a free gift such as an e-book or further relevant information, awaiting the reader of the article, on getting to the webmaster’s website.
